Soft Control, Magical Power, A Liberated Higher Nature
The meaning of this tarot card is clear enough by its name: Strength. But what kind of strength are we talking about? And how do we obtain it?
Delving deep into its esoteric roots, Strength is the result of previously conquering all the things that stand in the way of experiencing love.
This includes our lower instincts. And our astrological energies, some of which we’re here to overcome. We master our lower energies by accepting our pain, contemplating its unique value, and finding our self-empowerment through it.
When we let go of fear and resistance to existence and who we are – both our higher and lower natures – we disarm all opposition. Our soul is then free to fuse with our natural personality.
We discover our power by letting go of perceptions of control.
Then our work and mission in life become easy rather than burdens. We can enjoy each present moment knowing we’re interconnected with all, rather than remain at animosity with the world, ourself and each other. This is real power.
When Strength Shows Up In A Reading
Health: Allow your innate spontaneous inspirations to guide you in bettering your health. Let go of strict health and fitness regimes which only work against you. Your passion is your power.
Occupation: Have you considered an occupation that’s devoted to group service for the benefit of humanity? If so, Strength is your confirmation card. Otherwise, use the energy of this card to create desired change and new conditions which allow your creative sparks to flow more freely.
Relationships: With Strength, opposites attract, and eventually form a functioning union in which the soul is free to express love and abundantly receive love in return. Contemplate and celebrate your differences instead of resisting them. Let go of perceptions of control, and respond to each other’s thoughts. Seek a deeper and truer friendship, even in a romance.
Hidden Meaning: When we stop trying to control nature and the universe, we find ourselves blissfully in flow with all.
Reversed: A reversed Strength card might indicate domination, or an abuse of power and privilege, and as a result, disunion with society, or broken relationships. Or there might be a lack of courage or boldness. Some kind of weakness in indicated here, which is the other side of authoritarianism and of the same essence. When we feel timid or insecure, we tend to overcompensate with strictness and rigidness. Either way, something is flawed or deficient.
Advice: What are you resisting? What is your greatest aversion? This is an area in your life that is asking for love, acceptance and union. Opening yourself to what you resist removes barriers and resolves seemingly unrelated issues, like magic.
Astrological Association: Taurus
Timing: “Major Arcanas mean that no timeframe is specified but instead the issue indicated by the card must first be resolved. Reversals should be noted, as with this system they represent obstacles that must be overcome before the event can occur.” – Barbara Moore
